Nicki Minaj - Pills N Potions

I was an integral part of the team that created Nicki Minaj's Pills N Potions music video from concept to production. In 2014, I joined directors Diane Martel and Geoffrey Lillemon in New York as a three-person team to pitch our concept to Minaj’s label. I went on to develop style frames, liquid simulations and experimental solid cloud-like forms which I created by converting fluid simulations into meshes. These explorations defined the visual direction and were key to us winning the project. I returned to Amsterdam where I continued working as the primary 3D and VFX artist for the CG shots which you can see in the released video. I managed a small team and handled concept development, modeling, simulations, look development, camera tracking in PFTrack, rendering and most of the compositing. This project was particularly high-pressured and demanding, with edits and changes requested up to the very last minute. I learned to keep a level head and work consistently through a variety of unexpected setbacks in order to produce a world-class music video. Today, Pills N Potions has over 290 million views on YouTube.
